This is a fast-growing company, where their group companies have developed world class-leading expertise in the digital technology space. This is a great opportunity for a CA(SA) candidate (2-3 years post articles) looking for exposure in group accounting, reporting and consolidations. Consolidation and reporting experience is a requirement. There is an abundant amount of exposure for growth and problem-solving. This role will be reporting directly to the CFO.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities Reporting:

  • Responsible for the Group financial and management reporting
    • Oversee and coordinate the Group management and financial reporting process across four subsidiaries
      • Reviewing subsidiary management accounts, liaising with subsidiary management to understand and resolve queries
        • Ensuring the accuracy of the financial information maintained in the group management reporting systems
          • Maintain and update group support functions management reporting processes and systems
          Consolidations:
          • Maintenance of the group consolidation models
            • Ensuring consistency and accuracy of financial information between management reporting and financial reporting
              • Preparing consolidated financial information for monthly, quarterly, interim and annual results, as well as budgets and the forecasting process
                • Support development and update of inter-company policies and processes which impact on consolidations
                  • Preparation of group consolidated annual financial statements in line with IFRS and JSE requirements
                    • Ensure compliance with all statutory and IFRS requirements. This will entail monitoring developments in accounting standards and other regulations impacting financial reporting, assessing implications for the subsidiary. It will be expected from the Group Financial Controller to support the business with technical accounting issues and ensuring that the company’s accounting policies are up to date, compliant and correctly applied
                      • Various responsibilities, involvement and assistance in the accounting impact of mergers and acquisitions, business combinations and restructuring as part of the group financial consolidation processes
                      Risk Management
                      • Providing 2nd line oversight a challenge as mandated by the Group ERMF across the BU’s.
                        • Actively manage the Group Consolidated Risk Profile (CRP) with risk owners to ensure risk mitigation strategies will sunset risks back into threshold and pro-actively analyse notifiable occurrences to establish trends
                          • Performing quarterly monitoring of compliance with minimum core financial controls (MCFC) and other controls as prescribed by the ERMF.
                            • Ensure compliance with group governance and legislative requirements
                              • Drive the development of effective risk management & procedures, including Group wide insurance matters
                              Other Responsibilities: Tax function Take responsibility for group tax monitoring function including:
                              • Implementation and maintenance of tax status reporting within the group;
                                • Monitoring that required tax submissions are prepared, reviewed and submitted throughout the group; and maintenance of the group SARS eFiling profile.
                                External audit process Various responsibilities, involvement and assistance in the external audit process, including:
                                • Assistance to businesses within the group as and when required;
                                  • Preparation of impairment testing and loan revaluations within the group; and
                                    • Managing the efficient audit of responsible functions

                                    REQUIREMENTS

                                    Education & Experience

                                    • 2 - 3 years post article experience within a group structured environment
                                    • Prior financial manager experience in a similar role
                                    • Including financial consolidation, as well as group and management reporting experience
                                    • CA(SA) preference with audit background, as well as FM experience
                                    • Risk management skills as well as internal control experience and assessing the effectiveness thereof


                                    Technical Competencies
                                    • Technically up to date with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), specifically relating to business combinations and consolidations
                                    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience

                                    • An individual that is capable of navigating ambiguity
                                    • Reliable with integrity
                                    • Culture and environment of company varies from business unit to business unit and as such the ability to deal with a variety of personalities within the company is important (good interpersonal skills)

                                    • Ability to handle and deal with change within an environment that will be restructured
