Job Summary:

Group Financial Controller position with one of the leading hospitals in South Africa. The role will be reporting into the General Manager. This role offers a lot of growth and exposure to various responsibilities; it is a contract role of 7 months. Looking for someone who has strong consolidation experience (considering audit manager consolidation experience), assertiveness quality, the ability to multitask during a high pressure deadline and the drive to succeed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Month end

  • Review of consolidation journal entries and results
    • Review Group Report numbers (actual, budget and comparatives) and commentary
      • Review management results and report
      Year-end consolidation
      • Review of journal entries
        • Check consolidated results especially balancing of cash flow, OCI and SOCIE
          • Review Group Report numbers (actual, budget and comparatives) and commentary
            • Review results and report of financial manager below
            Results presentation: general assistance with checking AFS
            • Preparation of AFS, management of checking by auditors and sponsors, as well as management of typeset version
              • Preparation/review of Group full consolidated AFS, including typeset version
                • Review of Company AFS
                  • Subsidiary AFS - provide technical support to the drafters and consultants.
                  Management of workloads with team members Management of auditors
                  • Submissions and adherence to timetables
                    • Queries and technical issues
                      • Audit review of AFS
                      Review of papers for the Board Audit committee Integrated report: proof reading Budget finalisation Profit Forecast 1 in January
                      • Communication to business regarding timelines, key indicators, etc.
                        • Manage process, consolidation, reporting and Board slides
                        IFRS - potential IFRS 9 impact, will need to manage this as a project Small possibility of having to sign off journal entries every now and then Other items
                        • Review of financial manager's work reporting into this role - their entities’ balance sheet recon files (September and December)
                          • Performance reviews for the team, together with the General Manager
                            • CSA’s
                              • SA executive balance scorecard - completed monthly

                              REQUIREMENTS

                              • 4 years post articles experience
                              • CA(SA)
                              • Consolidation experience post articles is a necessity (not aggregation) - in audit is okay
                              • IFRS knowledge
                              • Ability to manage external auditors (as well as technical memos)
                              • Attention to detail
                              • Excel, and word experience
                              • Strong personality
                              • Ability to handle deadlines and multitask
