An exciting and fast growing multi-national consumer goods group is looking for a group financial accountant to join their head office team in Johannesburg. This is a great opportunity for a qualified CA(SA) to join a young and dynamic team building a high-performance culture in a fast-paced environment. The person will be responsible for managing and further developing management and financial reporting from the group’s businesses and assisting in preparing consolidations, statutory reporting and other outward reporting to the executive and shareholders.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Internal reporting

  • Oversee the internal management and financial reporting process, including monthly sales flash reporting, certain business metrics reporting and full financial month end reporting received.
    • Reviewing subsidiary management accounts, liaising with subsidiary management to understand and resolve queries
      • Driving compliance with head office requirements with subsidiary management
        • Ensuring the accuracy of the financial information maintained in the group management reporting systems
          • Maintain and update group management reporting processes and systems
          External reporting
          • Assisting the Financial Manager in the preparation of various financial analysis for external financial reporting at a group level, including monthly Exco reporting and Board packs
            • Assisting the Financial Manager in planning, project managing the group audit process and preparation of statutory reporting requirements for the group
            Consolidations
            • Maintenance of the group consolidation models
              • Ensuring consistency and accuracy of financial information between management reporting and financial reporting
                • Assisting the Group Financial Manager in preparing consolidated financial information for monthly, quarterly and annual results, as well as budgets and the forecasting process
                  • Support development and update of inter-company policies and processes which impact on consolidations
                    • Preparation of group consolidated annual financial statements
                    Other Responsibilities
                    • Take responsibility for group tax monitoring function including:
                    o Implementation and maintenance of tax status reporting within the group; p Monitoring that required tax submissions are prepared, reviewed and submitted throughout the group; and o Maintenance of the group SARS eFiling profile.
                    • Various responsibilities, involvement and assistance in the accounting impact of acquisitions on the group financial consolidation processes
                      • Various responsibilities, involvement and assistance in the external audit process, including:
                      o Assistance to businesses within the group as and when required; o Preparation of impairment testing and loan revaluations within the group; and o Managing the efficient audit of responsible functions and certain head office companies o Preparation of annual financial statements for various head office entities

                      REQUIREMENTS

                      CA(SA)
                      Strong academic performance
                      2-5 years post qualified experience in a similar role
                      Experience with a "group of companies" structure including financial
                      consolidations (experience with the consolidation of foreign entities
                      would be advantageous)
                      Experience in the performance/completion of a group audit at a
                      supervisory level (in a listed environment would be advantageous)
                      Exposure to fast moving consumer goods advantageous
                      Technically up to date with International Financial Reporting Standards
                      (IFRS), specifically relating to foreign exchange transactions, business
                      combinations and consolidations
                      Strong tax knowledge from a technical and compliance (return
                      submission, eFiling etc) perspective
                      Experience in group reporting systems (Vena, Hyperion, FRX etc)
                      Advanced Microsoft Excel skills/experience
                      High-energy, ambitious and wanting to grow with the group
                      Looking to roll-up your sleeves, get involved and having a "value-add"
                      attitude
                      Ability to understand new concepts and wanting to learn
                      Action orientated and output driven
                      Proven ability to:
                      - deal with various personalities (good interpersonal skills)
                      - perform consistently under pressure and in a fast-changing
                      environment
                      - execute tasks accurately with attention to detail
                      - multi-task and prioritise duties
                      Ability to implement changes/new processes
