Blue Recruiting's client in the IT/Technology space is looking for a Financial Manager to join their team.


RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Growth and development of staff

  • Shared responsibility to oversee a finance team of 16 - 20 members
    • Identification of training needs of all staff - both soft skills and technical skills
      • Implementation of a development plan and KPIs per person
        • Regular information feedback and one-on-one sessions to be held with all staff
          • Roll out of Care and Growth model to all staff (training will be held regarding this leadership model)
          2. Management of reporting processes for all company entities Take ultimate responsibility of the reporting process including, but not limited to:
          • Accurate and timely reporting by your staff
            • Supervision of monthly analysis, interrogation of results and commentary
              • Full finance function responsibility through to GL recon review
                • Review of annual financial statements in terms of IFRS
                3. Taxation Management of the tax affairs including:
                • Review of tax packs for all branches at August and February reporting periods
                  • Review of all branches/companies tax returns and managing the review process by various service providers in the different countries
                    • Review and follow up on any payroll tax and VAT queries in the various entities
                      • This comprises both South African tax and African tax (Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Mozambique & Mauritius)
                      4. Working capital management and cash flow management
                      • Preparation and supervision of the fortnightly cash forecast
                        • Forecasting and reporting on inventory and creditors positions
                          • Complete understanding of the various working capital facilities within the group
                            • Managing payments and utilization of various facilities to maximize cash flow and simultaneously minimize interest
                            5. Foreign exchange management
                            • Monitor the USD:ZAR exchange rate and communicate to senior management any material fluctuations or news releases that are expected to impact the rate in order to optimize purchase of foreign currency
                              • Report on monthly forex and reasons for large variances
                                • Providing guidance regarding forex covering and stock pricing
                                6. Commercial responsibility on Africa branches
                                • Assist the General Manager: Africa from a commercial/financial perspective
                                  • Ensure that the pricing into Africa to ensure appropriate margins for the inherent risks
                                    • Managing and maintain compliance with exchange control procedures
                                      • Minimizing unnecessary working capital exposure in these countries
                                      7. Audit, budget, BEE and risk
                                      • Full accountability of the annual year-end audit from planning through to sign off (including adherence to deadlines)
                                        • Ensuring no management letter points are raised in respect of areas under control
                                          • Collation and supervision of annual budget process and monthly reforecast
                                            • Supervision of annual BEE audit
                                              • Submission to Head Office information relating to the annual insurance renewal
                                              8. Process improvement and ad hoc responsibilities
                                              • Process improvement within all entities from an operational and financial standpoint (with possible travel into African entities)
                                                • Process improvement around the salary process
                                                  • Process improvement within the creditors process
                                                    • Improvement around ad hoc reporting for branches
                                                      • Preparation of ad hoc financial reports
                                                        • Checking and releasing of bank payments
                                                          • Checking and sign-off of all payrolls
                                                            • Supervision of RSA salary journal and reconciliation


                                                            • Minimum CA (SA)
                                                            • 3 - 5 years post articles experience with management experience
                                                            • Excellent people manager
